A Change of Seasons is Coming. Drink Wine.

We finally may be done with the 90-plus-degree fun-time weather for the year, which means it’s now safe to indulge in some wines that will transition you into cooler weather. Of course, any wine can be enjoyed at any time of year, but we’re standing by our transition concept.

Viotti
Albarossa and Cortese
Piedmont, Italy

Albarossa
A unique wine to excite your taste buds!
Don’t feel bad if you don’t recognize this grape; we hadn’t had it either. Albarossa is a cross between Barbera and Chartreuse and tastes like rustic, brambly fruit and forest herbs. Organic and natural.

Pairings: juicy burgers, steak frites, meaty lasagna, Texas chili, bacon-wrapped dates, grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, grilled veggies

Cortese
Make northern Italy your new white wine go-to.
Cortese should be on your radar — if it’s not, now’s the time to start tracking this grape. It is highly versatile — juicy and tropical with refreshing acidity and yummy, salty, citrusy notes. Organic and natural.

Pairings: grilled chicken Caesar salad, pasta salad, pulled pork tacos, cacio e pepe, sheet pan tofu with corn and chilies, Middle Eastern-seasoned chicken thighs, Greek lemon potatoes

Let’s keep the chillable red train a-chuggin’!
The organically farmed Pais grapes that make up this Pipeño come from a single parcel of 200-year-old vines. It’s light, dry, and refreshingly fruity. This wine bursts forward with juicy notes of cherries, raspberries, toasted orange peel, light herbal undertones, and a very subtle kiss of smoke. Chillable. Chuggable.

Natural. Organic. You may have to settle who gets the last glass with a friendly contest of rock, paper, scissors.
