March Wines of the Month
Our Wines of the Month for March will cover you for the transition into spring — hearty reds for cooler days, chuggable whites and rosés for warmer days. Or vice versa — you call the shots with your wine.

Altos las Hormigas
Tinto Red Blend
Mendoza, Argentina
We’ve all had Argentinian Malbec before, but what about a blend including Bonarda (Barbera) and Semillon??! The wine is juicy but still structured with loads of red fruit, a touch of spice and herbs, and all the elegance.

Quinta de Santiago
Vinho Verde
Portugal
Vinho Verde is the best! We can hardly name a more refreshing, more aperitif-y, more poolside-worthy wine than a good Vinho Verde. This one is, classically, zesty and a bit fizzy, but it’s also a drier style AND it’s organic! So many wins, here.

Baronnie de Montgaillard
Cabernet Sauvignon
Pays d’Oc, France
French Cab that tastes good and old-world and makes a long, mindless week feel a touch more French. When we go to make up that easy grilled cheese mid-week or throw a quick burger on the grill, this delicious Cab is there to make you feel a bit fancier.
$9.99/bottle
Bacchus
Pinot Noir
California
Fresh, fragrant Pinot Noir with no heavy oak or sweetness — just bright cranberry, cherry, spice and sandalwood on this sustainable beauty. Pair with nearly everything you throw at it. Try it as a Wine of the Month and you’ll find yourself rejoicing over your new favorite Pinot under $20.

Giribaldi
White Blend
Piedmont, Italy
We love this playful, soft, and organic blend of Arneis, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay from northern Italy. The Sauv Blanc provides crisp, vibrant acidity; the Arneis gives a touch of creaminess and stone fruit; the Chardonnay delivers some green apple skin and textured body. We suggest you make this your new spring fling.

iribaldi
Dolcetto
Piedmont, Italy
You’ve likely had our beloved Sottimano Dolcetto, and there’s no replacing that special wine for us — DUH! But we are happy to be able to squeeze another fun, springy Dolcetto into March’s wine mix for you. The Giribaldi is vibrant and bright with delightful notes of dark berries, cherries and violets. AND it’s organic. We like.

Winzer Krems
Donauriesling
Austria
Before you go exercising your preconceived notions here, let us briefly discuss something. First, this wine is made from a grape called Donauriesling, which is not exactly Riesling but a hybrid of Riesling and Sylvaner/Chasselas. Second, ALL RIESLING IS NOT SWEET! We implore you to believe us and drink more of this glorious grape, in general. Challenge yourself to reach out and try a dry Riesling — you will LOVE yourself for it. All food will taste better alongside it, especially Chinese take out and Austrian potato and pork dishes. Ok. That is all.

E. Traber
Sylvaner
Alsace, France
From the land of skinny bottles that everyone seems to be terribly confused by… SYLVANER! Skinny bottles do not equal sweet, let us first say that. In fact, Alsace is quite warm and very dry, so most wines from the region tend to be dry. This wine has a gorgeous nose on it, honeyed and full of sweet orange blossom and stone fruit, and, though it smells sweet, it’s not! The palate is textured and a touch rich but excellent for cheese plates, foie gras, spicy Thai food, and chicken salad sandwiches. Give this beauty a try and you won’t regret it.

Domaine Horgelus
Rosé
Gascogne, France
Everyone needs a dry, elegant but chuggable rosé in their life! Especially as the weather changes and days get longer and warmer, we find we need that easy-peasy drinker on hand for quick trips to the park or patio or to pair with thrown-together cheese plates. This pretty wine offers flavors of strawberry, citrus, melon and a touch of minerality that we plan to love all spring and summer and beyond.
$9.99/bottle
Domaine Clo
Rouge Cabernet Franc
Loire Valley, France
This Cab Franc just SCREAMS picnic season! And though she’s casual enough for picnics and BBQs, she’s complex and elegant enough for more fancy fare like grilled steak and charred broccolini; pâté, cornichons and crostini; and sausage-and-couscous-stuffed peppers. If you love the savoriness of a Cab Franc you’ll find some of that here, but you’ll also find bright, vibrant fruit, a touch of pepper, and some lovely minerality.
